Khajuraho: Khajuraho’s miraculously intact 10th and 11th century stone temples are a World Heritage Site and have pushed this erstwhile little village into the limelight. The temples are particularly famous for their intricate stone carvings, especially the erotic sculptures, on the temple panels.
Kanha National Park: To those familiar with Rudyard Kipling, this is “Jungle Book” country - thick sal forests, long bamboo clusters, swaying grasslands and meandering rivers, all these spotted with some of the most exotic Indian wildlife species. This is one of India’s finest tiger reserves. Over 200 species of birds also make it a bird watcher’s paradise.
Bandhavgarh National Park: One of the finest national parks in the country, it has the distinction of harbouring the highest concentration of tigers per unit area of forest. Although tigers were hunted and poached for many years, Bandhavgarh was declared a National Park in 1968 and since then much has been done to restore it into an unspoiled natural habitat for a variety of wildlife peculiar to this area. The ideal season for tiger spotting is from November to June.
